Rotary air drilling

Water bore drilling through hard rock formations to identify groundwater strikes. Ideal for areas with limited water access during drilling operations.

Rotary mud drilling

Stabilise boreholes in challenging geological conditions using engineered drilling fluids, ensuring bore stability and integrity during construction.

Sonic drilling

Advanced drilling technology for superior sample quality and rapid penetration through varied formations. Ideal for aquifer characterisation and Monitoring Bore installation.

Overburden systems

Efficient drilling through unconsolidated materials to reach permeable aquifers, enabling access to deeper water-bearing formations while maintaining bore stability and construction quality.

Aircore / RC (reverse circulation)

Clean, efficient drilling methods for groundwater investigation with minimal formation damage. Maintains aquifer productivity and ensures optimal water quality.

“On behalf of KNPL, your team has done a incredible job. The level of professionalism, pride and care factor the team has shown in their work has been outstanding. It’s been a pleasure to see how consistently high standards are maintained, both in quality of work delivered and in the way the team carry themselves each day. The commitment to safety and the strong team culture you have at J&S is equally as commendable. Thank you for creating a safe and supportive work environment and delivering us a safe and successful drill program. Much appreciated.”
“I would like to take the time to thank you for the work that was completed at our home. The crew that completed the drilling were exceptional, they explained the complete process and did it without fuss. I think I’ve learnt a little about drilling myself or at least more than you thought I did. Once again thank you I will certainly be very happy to recommend you to anyone.”

Our water bore drillers are fully licensed with capabilities from 100 to 450mm diameter. We maintain compliance with state water licensing requirements, environmental regulations, and Australian standards for bore construction. Our operations follow strict protocols for bore completion reporting, water allocation compliance, and environmental impact management.

We conduct hydrogeological assessments, including geological logging, aquifer identification, and hydraulic testing. Our test pumping programs determine sustainable bore yield, hydraulic properties, and long-term water supply reliability. We use step-drawdown and constant rate testing protocols to optimise bore design and ensure compliance with water allocation limits.

It depends on the geological conditions and aquifer characteristics. We use rotary mud drilling for unconsolidated formations, air rotary for fractured rock aquifers, and sonic drilling for complex geological sequences. Hollow stem auger methods are employed for shallow alluvial aquifers, while direct push techniques suit monitoring bore installations.

Our mine dewatering includes pit dewatering, tailings dam management, and aquifer depressurisation systems. We provide high-capacity production bores, recovery bore installations, and pumping test programs to determine optimal dewatering strategies. Our drilling experience supports complex hydrogeological conditions that require precision hydraulic design.

We conduct initial development, step-drawdown testing, constant rate pumping tests, and water quality sampling. Our commissioning protocols ensure bores meet design specifications, sustainable yield requirements, and water quality standards as stated in the Minimum Construction Requirements for Water Bores in Australia (Edition 4). We provide detailed bore completion reports and ongoing performance monitoring recommendations.
